چکیده

Reducing unnecessary and redundant system development through reuse is a key element in the Department of Defense's Software Technology Strategy to reduce the annual DoD software cost. The STARS 1 (Software Technology for Adaptable, Reliable Systems) program is implementing this strategy with an approach that combines reuse with other elements including the identiication of software processes along with a focus to speciic application domains. A well-organized reuse repository oriented to the engineer's application domain is needed in order to realize gains through reuse of engineering components. The Reusability Library Framework (RLF), being developed and deployed by Electronic Systems/Valley Forge Laboratories in cooperation with Tactical Systems, addresses these needs. This paper will describe the current status of the RLF and give examples of how it has been applied to date to several Paramax application areas. In addition, how the RLF can evolve to become the hub of an enterprise-wide repository of domain expertise that eeectively brings together people, emerging and maturing software development processes, and applicable enabling technology will be discussed.

Reusability Problems of Object- Oriented Software Building Blocks

There is no doubt that the object-oriented paradigm (encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism and dynamic binding) encourages the building of extensible systems and software reuse. Nevertheless, the desired reusability of software components often cannot be achieved even by using state-of-the-art class libraries/application frameworks or object-oriented programming in general. Based on a large-...

Design of Dynamic Component Reuse and Reusability Metrics Library for Reusable Software Components in Context Level

Reusability is about building a library of frequently used components based on the functional requirements of the reuser. A well organized component reuse library is the key for successful reusability in terms of economics benefits. Reusability metrics is a set of guidelines to help reuser to judge the quality of the component that is to be reused. Reusability metric library is an essential ing...

A Metrics Set for Reusability Based Quality Framework for Software Components

Reusability is the most important factor which cannot be ignored when practicing component based software development since it offers many advantages like improved productivity, cycle time and quality. Reusability and quality are proportional to each other as a high quality component is definitely reusable and vice versa. The quality is a subjective issue which is difficult to measure objective...
